6 oz vs. 7.4 oz vs. 10.9 oz: Which Heavyweight Blank Tee Should You Buy?

Heavyweight blank t-shirts compared: 200 GSM, 250 GSM and 370 GSM

"Heavyweight" can mean a lot of things. Some brands call a 6 oz tee heavyweight; others won't use the word under 7.5 oz. Here's a simple breakdown of the three heavyweight blanks we carry, so you can pick the right one for your customers and your margins.

Quick comparison

Tee Weight Similar style to Sizes Price per piece
PROL LINE 1820 Heavyweight 6 oz | 200 GSM AAA (Alstyle 1301) S to 3XL $5.50 to $6.50
PROL LINE 2500 Heavyweight 7.4 oz | 250 GSM Pro Club Heavyweight S to 3XL $8.00 to $10.00
CA Apparel 2038 Super Heavyweight 10.9 oz | 370 GSM Shaka Wear heavyweights S to 2XL $12.00 to $14.00

All three are 100% cotton, come in Black and White, have a tear-away label for private labeling, and are sold by the piece, so there's no dozen minimum.

oz vs. GSM, quickly

Fabric weight is listed two ways: ounces per square yard (oz) and grams per square meter (GSM). Higher means thicker, denser fabric. As a rough guide, 1 oz is about 34 GSM, so a 6 oz tee is around 200 GSM and a 10.9 oz tee is around 370 GSM.

PROL LINE 1820: 6 oz | 200 GSM

The everyday heavyweight. 100% open-end cotton, taped shoulders, and side-seamed construction for a structured fit. It's the best value of the three and a great choice for events, businesses, and high-volume DTF or screen print orders. Read our AAA-style comparison.

PROL LINE 2500: 7.4 oz | 250 GSM

The sweet spot for streetwear. 100% cotton, thicker than the 1820, and heavier than the classic 6.5 oz Pro Club heavyweight, with a premium feel that still prices well for resale. Read our Pro Club-style comparison.

CA Apparel 2038: 10.9 oz | 370 GSM

Super heavyweight 100% cotton. Nearly double a standard tee, with a dense, structured drape. Best for premium drops where a high-end feel supports a higher retail price. Heavier fabric may need extra press time or pressure for DTF transfers. Read our Shaka Wear-style comparison.
